Appalachian Trail Map #9: Shenandoah National Park (North District)
This map from the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club covers the length of the Appalachian Trail in the North District of Shenandoah National Park. Scale 1:62,500.
Here's the completely revised and updated 18th edition of the map covering the Northern-most section of the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. Printed on water-resistant, tear-resistant synthetic stock in 6 colors, in this edition the color of the park boundaries has been revised. Along with updates of all roads, abandoned trails have been deleted (Mathews Arm Trail from Tuscarora-Overall Run Trail junction to west Park boundary) and more parking areas, with car capacity, added. The Thornton Gap/Panorama area has been revised to show the omission of the Gift Shop and restaurant. The scale is 1:62,500 and contour interval 100 feet. The grid projection is the UTM system with lines plotted 5 kilometers apart, permitting easy plotting or extraction of coordinates with GPS devices. On the back side are detailed enlargements of the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center and the Mathews Arm Campground.
